What you will need:

Your username:
Your username is located on the card you got back after signing
up for your new account. It is typically Firstname_Lastname.
You can call the IT Helpdesk at x3000 to find out your username information.

Your Password:
Refer to http://studentdocs.eku.edu/email/password.php
for questions about your password.

Introduction:
|
The following is instructions for modifying your webpages via FTP.
You will be walked through using Internet Explorer (or your favorite FTP client) to connect
to and download from the new Student Web Server. The process is not complex, and can be performed
from any computer on or off campus.
Your default page should be named: default.htm or index.htm
|
Basic Instructions:

Login to your account
Copy the file(s) down you want to edit
Make the changes
Upload the file(s)
Logout of your account (by closing the browser)

Logging into your account:
You can do this in using any FTP client, but this document focuses on Internet Explorer.
- Open Internet Explorer up.
- Type the following in the address blank, substituting your username where you see USERNAME: ftp://USERNAME@ftp.studentweb.eku.edu
- Click OK.
- You will be prompted for your password, type it in and click OK.
- You are logged in and should see contents of your account.

Copying Files to your Computer:
Files can be copied from your account to your computer in one of the following ways:
Any of the files you see in your account can be "dragged" to the deskop.
You can also Right Click on any file or folder, choose "Copy to Folder" and choose where you want to put them.
When using Internet Explorer to access your account, it behaves just like a normal folder. You can copy, paste, delete items inside this folder.

Making changes to the document:
You can use your favorite webpage editing software to modify your pages. Some cool editors are Netscape Composer, Macromedia Dreamweaver, and Notetab. Microsoft Word documents can also be saved as HTML. Open the editor and open the page you would like to work on. Make any changes you wish, and save the document.

Copying Files from your Computer:

Logging out of your account:
You should close your browser to logout of your account. If you leave your browser open, someone could modify/delete files that belong to you.
